Summer 2016 Fashion Show

Back in June of 2016, I participated in my very first fashion show. At age 15, I was still very inexperienced with how to create a collection, work with models, and organize the show day of. However, the thrill of the spotlight and excitement of working with my friends overshadowed the slight hesitancy I felt.
For young designers and artists who are about to embark on their first show, I recommend a few things:
- be prepared with a sewing kit because you never know what can happen!
- introduce yourself to as many people as possible
- bring business cards
- do not hesitate to communicate with your models or photographers during a photo shoot post-show
- enjoy the moment and be proud of the clothes you have created :)

The collection I created drew inspiration from Alexander McQueen and the rolling hills of Northern California, which I expressed through the organic silhouettes, use of butterflies, for which McQueen is known, and the juxtaposition of soft colors with darker hues. Romantic, feminine, and sweet, the girl who would wear this collection is the embodiment of spring.
